• PurposeAngiographic catheters are used to deliver contrast material to blood vessels during diagnostic procedures, such as catheter angiography. They can also be used to guide wires or other catheters into target sites, or to deliver balloons and stents. 
• ProcedureA catheter is inserted into a blood vessel through a small incision in the skin. The catheter is then guided to the area being examined, and a contrast material is injected through the catheter. Images are captured using a small dose of ionizing radiation (x-rays).
